What I do

FOR UI/UX EXPERTS AND DESIGNERS. My technical expertise can enhance your service offerings and provide your customers with the optimal user experience.

Let me fill in the gaps for you with your more sophisticated clients. A website design for a company with a strong IT department may only require HTML templates with full front-end functionality. This includes semantic HTML that defines the page structure, CSS to type the page and Javascript to provide the expected page behavior. An experienced website administrator will be able to use the templates to construct the complete website.

I have a strong sense for design, speak the language of designers and respect their decisions and requests.

FOR SMALLER COMPANIES THAT NEED MORE, I can work with you to integrate all content into your new site, whether it’s a simple, front-end HTML project or a dynamic site based on a content management system (CMS). I work with open source CMSs such as Drupal, Wordpress and Joomla. Visit my portfolio page for examples of these.

FOR ANY COMPANY WITH AN EXISTING DESIGN, I may collaborate with companies if they have a design ready. Refer to the right sidebar for an overview and list of my complete services.

FOR MY CLIENTS, I take pride in producing the websites that are promised: on time and on budget, that delight my customers.

While building every website, I always take into account accessibility, SEO, functionality, and the various platforms the site might be viewed on.

The following principles are the foundation of my practice:

Standards compliance. A critical part of my work. A website is a significant business asset that needs to be maintained. A standards compliant website uses coding standards that promote the separation of structure, style and behavior. This coding pattern allows for shorter development and maintenance time and makes the code base accessible so that every developer can follow and understand it. When a developer builds a site according to standards, another will be able to continue where the former left off.

Adapting for mobile devices. As more and more people browse the web with their mobile devices, older site building technologies make less sense. Flash is too slow and needs too many resources to run efficiently on a mobile device. Using images to enhance site graphics requires extra page load time, which is more noticeable with mobile bandwidth.

The latest advances. My work is based on HTML5 or CSS3. HTML5 represents an enormous advance for modern web applications and increases the capabilities of browsers and Web applications.

All leading mobile platforms, iPhone, iPad and Android use HTML5 and CSS3. On the desktop all major browsers support HTML5 and CSS3. So building sites with HTML5 and CSS3 standards ensures their future viability.
